Brokers often charge fees (‘commissions’) for using their services that can really stack up as you start to invest more. You won’t find these fees here.

Account fees can really range, especially when it comes to custody fees which are a percentage of portfolio value charged annually. Again, you won’t find these here.

Investing in foreign markets involves lots of different currencies which can get expensive quite quickly. You won’t find these fees hidden anywhere on Lightyear.

Your currency is always converted at the live interbank rate - the rate at which banks convert currencies with each other.

Unlike with some other brokers, we pay interest on the uninvested cash you hold with us so you can put your money to work between investments.

Unpaid interest is earned daily and is paid on the 1st of every month.

Hello! We're truly sorry that you had a bad experience with us. We will get in touch with you directly.

I recently opened an account with them and I was asked first to provide another document as proof-of-address instead of my Wise Bank Statement.
I shared another proof of address but I received suddenly an email that they have closed my account and they cannot provide much details. But they provided some broad reasons including "we are given false/misleading information".

It's not the type of customer treatment we expect from a startup company. They claimed since we are a regulated company we're limited in what we can tell you about this decision. They could ask for further proofs or let me know what they've found wrong before make such a quick judgement. Alternatively, they could refer to the regulations that forces them to not reveal the logic behind their unprofessional decision.

Lightyear offers one of the best investing platforms for beginners like myself. It is an amazing user-friendly platform. However, due to the increase in fx fees, it no longer makes it the cheapest platform to invest with, even when taking into account spreads other platforms may charge.
